Hello and welcome to my brand-new site, Brown Eyed Girl Bakes!  Let me introduce myself to you, my name is Lisa and I have baked for so long, it is really one of my earliest memories.   

What’s the meaning behind this blog name? Well, the name Brown Eyed Girl Bakes is a great question to answer for you off the bat.  Yes, you have guessed the first part of my answer: I do indeed have brown eyes from my mother’s side of the family.  The second part of my answer regarding the name of the blog goes back to my college days when I was introduced to the singer Van Morrison.  As this song played in the small local bar, my friends and I would sing and dance while they pointed at me, the brown eyed girl of the bunch.  I cannot hear this song without it taking me back to my happy college memories of finding friends, romance, and oh yes studying 😊

In this blog you will find the following subjects interwoven together such as photography, life stories, health, and primarily baking and cooking.  Together you and I will talk about ingredients, or my results of trying a new recipe found either in a cookbook, or randomly online.  It could also include my love of organization. Together, you my new friends, will keep me in line with my projects big and small!

I will introduce you to my canine roommates who keep me on my toes, keep me walking no matter what weather we have, and who are always in the kitchen with me looking for crumbs!

Why start this blog now you might ask.  Another good question.  I find myself looking for a creative outlet to share my stories, my kitchen successes, and sometimes the recipes that found their way into the trashcan (to save you from making the same mistakes I did!)  This is natural fit for me as these subject matters are part of me, of what makes me happy.  But also difficult for me in that I am not a natural sharer.  I am an observer of life, happy to be the helper, not the leader of the band.  I tend to be a little shy, especially with big groups, so, I am challenging myself to share more of me: my thoughts, my dreams, my projects, and of course with you my reader, our mutual love of baking.
